# Add an extra IP address to your VPS

If you need more IP addresses for your VPS, order an extra IP address as an add-on and then add it in the server’s operating system.

## Before you start

- You add the new address in the server’s operating system yourself, for example with netplan.

## How to add it

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net), open the upgrades page and click **Show addons** next to your VPS.

2. Choose an extra IP address and complete the order.

3. Add the new address to the server’s network settings.

4. Restart your VPS.

The new address is activated when the server restarts.

## How to know it worked

The server answers on both IP addresses.

## Good to know

- If you want the address to answer with a name, change its PTR record.
