# I can’t receive email

Email people send you never arrives. Start with the cause at the top, it’s the most common.

## Right guide?

- Does your email arrive but end up in the spam folder?

## Common causes

### 1. No email arrives at all

**Check:** Does the domain’s MX record point to Inleed? It can point elsewhere, for example after a nameserver change.

**What to do:** With Inleed’s nameservers, MX should be `10 mail.yourdomain.com` and `mail` should point to your hosting’s IP address.

If DNS is with another provider, MX should point to your hosting’s server name.

### 2. It stopped working after the domain moved to your hosting

**Check:** Does the A record for `mail` still point to the old server?

**What to do:** Change the A record for `mail` to your hosting’s IP address.

### 3. The address doesn’t exist

**Check:** Has the email account been created, and is the address spelled correctly?

**What to do:** Create the email account with the right spelling.

### 4. The mailbox is full

**Check:** Has the account reached its size limit?

**What to do:** Clear out old email, or raise the size in DirectAdmin under **E-mail Accounts**.

### 5. Nothing works, not even the website

**Check:** Has the domain expired, or is the hosting suspended?

**What to do:** Follow the guide for a suspended service.

### 6. Some emails arrive, others don’t

**Check:** Is the email ending up in the spam folder, or being removed by the spam filter?

**What to do:** Look in the spam folder. If SpamAssassin is set to `drop`, spam is deleted straight away instead of being moved there.

## Good to know

- After a nameserver change, email can end up at the old provider for up to 48 hours. Check webmail at both providers.
