# Check your hosting resource usage

When your hosting hits its CPU, memory or process limits, your website gets slow or shows 503. In DirectAdmin you can see whether that happens, and when.

## What do the abbreviations mean?

- **CPU:** Processing power
- **PMEM:** Memory
- **IO and IOPS:** Reading from and writing to disk
- **EP:** Simultaneous visits running in PHP
- **NPROC:** Number of processes

## How to check the usage

1. Log in to [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin) and open **Resource Usage** under **Extra Features**.

2. Choose a time period.

The **Faults** column shows how many times your hosting hit a limit.

## How to know it worked

You see which resource runs out, and when.

## Good to know

- When a limit is reached, new visits are stopped for a while. You can’t see which page or script caused it.
- Cache reduces the load the most. Don’t run several cache plugins at once.
