# Connect to your hosting with SSH

With SSH you log in to your hosting from a terminal on your computer. You use port 2020 and the same username and password as in DirectAdmin.

## SSH settings

- **Server:** The server name, for example prime2.inleed.net
- **Port:** `2020`
- **Username:** Your hosting’s username, for example s128209
- **Password:** Your DirectAdmin password

## How to connect

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net) and click **Manage** next to your hosting.

   Your hosting’s page opens.

2. Note the server name and port on the **SSH** row under **Hosting Specifics**.

3. Connect from a terminal, for example with `ssh -p 2020 s128209@prime2.inleed.net`.

Replace the username and server with your own.

## How to know it worked

You’re logged in to your hosting.

## If something doesn’t work

### The connection is refused or closes at once

**Why:** The wrong port, or your IP address has been blocked after failed logins.

**What to do:** Use port 2020. If it works over mobile data but not from your usual connection, whitelist your IP address.

[Whitelist your IP address in the firewall](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/whitelist-ip-address)

### The password doesn’t work

**Why:** It’s the DirectAdmin password that applies, not the client area’s.

**What to do:** Change it under the **DirectAdmin** tab on your hosting’s page in the client area.

## Good to know

- SFTP, for example in FileZilla, uses the same server, port and login.
- On a VPS, port 22 applies instead.
