# Create a database and a database user

WordPress and many web apps need a database. You create it and a database user in DirectAdmin.

## Faster: let an AI app do it

If you’ve connected Inleed to an AI app, just write what you want done, for example:

> Create a database with a user on the hosting for example.se

Done. The database and the user are created, and you can see them in DirectAdmin.

## How to create the database

1. Log in to [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin), open **Databases** under **Account Manager** and click **Create**.

2. Enter a name for the database.

   The name always starts with your username and an underscore.

3. Click **Advanced mode** if you want to choose the username and password yourself.

4. Click **Create**.

5. Save the database name, the username and the password shown.

   The password is only shown this once.

## How to know it worked

The database and a database user are under **Databases**.

## Good to know

- In the website’s settings, for example `wp-config.php`, the database server is `localhost`.
- If you’ve lost the password, change it under **Databases › Manage Users**. Then update the website’s settings.
- If you install WordPress with Installatron, the database is created automatically.
