# Create a Node.js app on your hosting

Node.js apps run on your hosting through DirectAdmin. You choose the version, the folder with the app and the address it answers on.

## How to create it

1. Log in to [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin) and open **Setup Node.js App** under **Extra Features**.

2. Click **Create Application**.

3. Choose the Node.js version, the folder with the app, the address it should answer on and the startup file.

4. Click **Create**.

5. Install the app’s dependencies with **Run NPM Install**, then start the app.

## How to know it worked

The app answers on the address you chose.

## If something doesn’t work

### The app doesn’t respond and can’t be restarted

**Why:** The server software that runs the app (Passenger) can only be restarted by us.

**What to do:** Email [support](mailto:support@inleed.se) and tell us which app and domain it is.

## Good to know

- Support helps with the server, not with your app’s code.
