# Create a one-time link to share a password

A one-time link shows a password or other text a single time. Use it when you need to send a password to someone, for example support.

## How to create the link

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net) and click your name.

   The profile menu opens.

2. Choose **Create one-time link**.

3. Enter the password or text you want to share under **Message**.

4. Click **Generate link**.

5. Copy the link and send it to the recipient.

## How to know it worked

The recipient opens the link and sees the message once. Then it’s deleted from Inleed’s servers.

## Good to know

- If support needs a password, for example the root password for your VPS, send it as a one-time link instead of in plain text.
- Support also sends logins to you as one-time links. Save the details before you close the window, because the link only works once.
