# My cron job isn’t running

A scheduled script in DirectAdmin does nothing or has stopped running. Usually the command or the path is wrong.

## Common causes

### 1. The command works in the terminal but not as cron

**Check:** Does the command contain the full path to the script? Cron doesn’t know your folder.

**What to do:** Enter the full path, for example `/home/username/domains/yourdomain.com/public_html/script.php`.

Run PHP scripts with `php` and the full path, or with `curl` or `wget` against an address.

### 2. It’s WordPress’s own scheduling (wp-cron)

**Check:** Does the task only run when someone visits the website? That’s how wp-cron works.

**What to do:** Add a cron job that calls `wp-cron.php`.

### 3. You don’t get an email about what happened

**Check:** Is your email address at the top under **Cron Jobs**?

**What to do:** Enter your email address there, and the output from the job is emailed to you.

## Good to know

- You create cron jobs under **Advanced Features › Cron Jobs** in [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin), with **Create Cron Job**.
- Inleed’s support helps with the server, not with the script itself.
