# Should I choose IMAP or POP3?

## Answer

Choose IMAP. Your email then stays on the server, and folders, read and deleted email look the same on your phone, your computer and in webmail.

POP3 fetches the email to a single program. Some programs then delete it from the server, so it’s missing on your other devices. Folders you create in the program exist only there.

## Good to know

- If you have to use POP3: the server is `mail.inleed.com`, port 995 with SSL/TLS. The username is the full email address.
- To switch from POP3 to IMAP: add the account again as IMAP before you remove the POP3 account. Then move email and folders that exist only in the program to the IMAP account, so they are saved on the server.
