# Install Windows Server on your VPS

Windows Server isn’t included with your VPS. You order a licence through Inleed and then reinstall the server with Windows Server 2025.

## Before you start

- Everything on the server is erased when it is reinstalled. Back up anything you want to keep first.

## How to install it

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net), go to the store and click **Microsoft/SPLA**.

2. Order a Windows Server licence.

3. Open **Services** and click **Manage** next to your VPS.

4. Open the operating system tab and click **Reinstall the server**.

**Important:** Everything on the server is erased and can’t be restored.

5. Choose **Windows › Server 2025** and confirm.

6. Click the link in the email you receive to confirm the reinstall.

## How to know it worked

The server is installed with Windows Server 2025. Then log in with Remote Desktop (RDP).

## If something doesn’t work

### The Windows server shuts itself down

**Why:** The server doesn’t have a valid Windows licence.

**What to do:** Order the licence in the store under **Microsoft/SPLA**.
