# Order a static IP for your broadband

A static IP address gives your broadband its own public address, so a camera, server or VPN at home can be reached from outside. You order it as an add-on in the [client area](https://login.inleed.net).

## Before you start

- Your broadband must be active. The add-on can’t be activated before then.

## How to order

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net), go to **Upgrades** and click **Show addons** next to your broadband.

   The add-ons for your broadband are shown.

2. Choose **Publik IP** and complete the order.

3. Restart your router once you have received the confirmation.

4. Open this address `ip.inleed.se` in your browser and check that the page shows your new static IP address.

   The page shows your broadband’s public IP address.

## How to know it worked

Your broadband has its own public IP address, and you can open ports in your router.

## If something doesn’t work

### ip.inleed.se doesn’t show the new address

**Why:** The router hasn’t picked up the new address, or has a fixed address set.

**What to do:** Restart the router. Check that the router’s WAN gets its address automatically (DHCP). Don’t enter the static IP address in the router.

## Good to know

- Without a static IP you share an address with others (CGNAT). Then nothing at home can be reached from outside.
- We don’t block any ports. You decide which are open in your own router.
- The broadband doesn’t have IPv6 today. It’s planned, but no date is set.
