# Password-protect a folder on your website

With password protection, visitors must log in with a username and password to see a folder on your website. You set it up in DirectAdmin.

## How to protect the folder

1. Log in to [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin) and open **Password Protected Directories**.

2. Choose the folder you want to protect.

3. Turn on the protection and enter a username and a password.

4. Save.

## How to know it worked

Visitors must log in to see the folder.

## Good to know

- Use https, so the password is sent encrypted. SSL certificates are included for free.
