# Do I have to pay the invoice if I cancel?

## Answer

It depends on the period. If the invoice is for a period that has already started, it must be paid, even if you cancel the service.

If it’s for a period that hasn’t started, support credits it once your cancellation is confirmed. Then you don’t have to pay.

## Good to know

- Not paying isn’t cancelling. You need to cancel the service, or turn off **Auto Invoice** so that it ends on its expiry date.
- Services can’t be paused. You can cancel the service and order it again later.
- When you cancel broadband, choose the subscription’s renewal day as the end date. That avoids a new invoice, since a period that has started is charged in full.
