# Restart your VPS

If the server has hung or stopped responding, you can restart it yourself in the [client area](https://login.inleed.net). It’s often the first thing to try.

## Before you start

- Websites and services on the server are down until it has started again.

## How to restart it

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net) and click **Manage** next to your VPS.

   Your VPS’s page opens.

2. Open the operating system tab and click **Restart**.

## How to know it worked

The server restarts.

**Waiting time:** It usually takes a minute or two.

## If something doesn’t work

### The server doesn’t come back up after the restart

**What to do:** Open **Console** and see what the server shows. Then follow the troubleshooting for a VPS that can’t be reached.
