# Send email from WordPress via SMTP

With SMTP, WordPress sends its email through an email account at Inleed, so contact forms and order emails get delivered.

## WP Mail SMTP settings

- **SMTP server:** `mail.inleed.com`
- **Port and encryption:** 465 with SSL, or 587 with TLS
- **Authentication:** On
- **Username:** The full email address
- **Password:** The email account’s password

## How to set it up

1. [Create an email address](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/create-email-account) for the website, for example `info@yourdomain.com`.

2. Install the WP Mail SMTP plugin in WordPress.

3. Choose **Other SMTP**.

4. Fill in the fields from the settings and the address’s password.

5. Save and send a test email.

## How to know it worked

The test email arrives.

## If something doesn’t work

### The error “SMTP connect() failed” shows

**Why:** WordPress can’t reach the server.

**What to do:** Check the server, port, encryption and login details.

## Good to know

- Has your hosting moved to another server or been upgraded? Check that the server is `mail.inleed.com`.
- In contact forms, **Sender** and **From** must be the same valid address on the domain.
- PHP’s `mail()` works, but email gets delivered less reliably than with SMTP.
