# Set up the spam filter for your email

The SpamAssassin spam filter decides what counts as spam and what happens to it. Change it when too much spam gets through, or when real emails get caught.

## Faster: let an AI app do it

If you’ve connected Inleed to an AI app, just write what you want done, for example:

> Make the spam filter for example.se stricter

Done. The spam filter for example.se is stricter.

## How to set up the filter

1. Log in to [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin) and open **E-mail Manager › SpamAssassin Setup**.

**Important:** If you choose to delete spam, you can’t find a wrongly sorted email afterwards. A spam folder is the better choice.

2. Choose where spam goes: the inbox, a spam folder or deleted straight away.

3. Choose how strict the filter should be.

A lower value catches more spam, but also more real emails.

4. Click **Save Configuration**.

## How to know it worked

The filter applies to new email from now on.

## Good to know

- A value between 2.5 and 10 suits most people.
- If a sender gets caught by mistake, you can allow them.
