# Test your website with a temporary address

With a temporary address you can see the website on your hosting before the domain points here, for example while you build a new site or move to Inleed.

## Faster: let an AI app do it

If you’ve connected Inleed to an AI app, just write what you want done, for example:

> Create a temporary address for example.se

Done. Here’s the temporary address, where the website shows without the domain pointing here.

## How to test it

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net) and click **Manage** next to your hosting.

   Your hosting’s page opens.

2. Click **Create temporary URL**.

## How to know it worked

You get an address where the website shows, without the domain having to point here.

## If something doesn’t work

### The temporary address sends you on to the old website

**Why:** WordPress’s address settings (HOME and SITE URL) point to the domain.

**What to do:** Test with your computer’s hosts file instead. Add your hosting’s IP address and the domain there, and your computer opens the website on your hosting. The IP address is under **Hosting Specifics**.

## Good to know

- Want to test changes on a website that is already live? Make a staging copy on a subdomain with its own public_html. The original is not affected.
