# Transfer your domain away from Inleed

Your new provider needs the domain’s transfer code (EPP code) to take over the domain. You request the code in the client area, and it’s emailed to the domain’s owner.

## Before you start

- If the domain is locked for transfer, [support](mailto:support@inleed.se) removes the lock once you confirm as the owner. Request the transfer code after that, because an old code often stops working.

## How to transfer it

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net) and click **Manage** next to the domain.

   The domain’s page opens.

2. Click **Request transfer code**.

The transfer code is emailed to the domain’s owner.

3. Give the code to your new provider and start the transfer there.

## How to know it worked

The domain moves once your new provider has started the transfer.

## If something doesn’t work

### The new provider says the code is wrong

**Why:** The code has expired, or the domain is still locked for transfer.

**What to do:** If the domain is locked, ask [support](mailto:support@inleed.se) to unlock it. Then request a new transfer code and give it to the provider.

## Good to know

- The transfer code is valid for about 2 weeks. If it has expired, request a new one.
