# Transfer a domain to Inleed

With the transfer code from your current provider, you move the domain’s registration to Inleed. You start the transfer yourself in the client area.

## Before you start

- Unlock the domain at your current provider and ask for the transfer code. It is also called an auth code or EPP code.

## How to transfer it

1. Log in to the [client area](https://login.inleed.net) and click **Transfer Domain** in the menu.

   The domain transfer form opens.

2. Enter the domain name.

3. Paste the transfer code.

4. Click **Start domain transfer**.

## How to know it worked

The transfer starts.

**Waiting time:** A .se or .nu domain moves as soon as the transfer code is accepted. Other domains, such as .com, take 5–7 days.

## If something doesn’t work

### The transfer code isn’t accepted

**Why:** The code is wrong or old, or the domain is locked.

**What to do:** Ask your current provider for a new code and check that the domain is unlocked.

### The transfer isn’t finishing

**What to do:** The domain transfer troubleshooting goes through the most common causes.

## Good to know

- The transfer doesn’t change the nameservers, so your website and email work as before. If you want to change them, do it once the transfer is done.
- You transfer .se and .nu domains to Inleed for free.
- Don’t send the transfer code to support. Enter it in the client area, it’s quicker.
