# Turn off and delete Installatron backups

Installatron can save automatic backups of your website on your hosting, and they take up space. Turn them off and delete the old ones to free up space.

## How to turn them off

1. Log in to [DirectAdmin](https://inleed.com/helpcenter/log-in-to-directadmin), open Installatron and click **My Applications**.

2. Click **Edit** next to the website.

3. Set **Automatic Backup** to **Do not create automatic backups**.

4. Also turn off the backup before automatic updates, and save.

Otherwise a backup is taken before every automatic update.

**Important:** A deleted backup can’t be brought back.

5. Open **My Backups** and delete the backups you don’t need.

Backups that already exist stay until you delete them.

## How to know it worked

Installatron no longer saves backups on your hosting.

## Good to know

- Inleed still backs up your whole hosting account every day. The backup is stored on another server and uses none of your space.
- You can also delete the backups in the `applications_backups` folder.
