Change the owner of a domain
An ownership change moves the domain to a new legal owner, for example a new company or an association. It is done with a transfer that both parties verify.
Should the domain only move to another Inleed account, with the same owner? Move a domain to another Inleed account
Before you start
- Have the new owner’s name and personal identity number or company registration number ready.
- For .se and .nu, the new owner needs an Inleed account.
- Both you and the new owner need to be able to verify your identity, with BankID for .se and .nu.
- If a company owns the domain, the person with signing authority according to Bolagsverket signs. If 2 people sign jointly for the company, both sign.
How to change the owner
- 1
Log in to the client area, go to ownership transfers and click Create new transfer.
A list of your domains and the price are shown.
- 2
Click Select next to the domain that is changing owner.
- 3
Fill in the new owner’s details and create the transfer.
- 4

The ownership change only goes through once the invoice is paid.
- 5
Verify your identity with the link you receive. The new owner does the same.
How to know it worked
Done
The domain is in the new owner’s name.
If something doesn’t work
The transfer isn’t completing
Why: The invoice hasn’t been paid, or someone hasn’t signed.
What to do: Pay the invoice and remind whoever hasn’t signed.
One of the parties doesn’t have Swedish BankID
What to do: Then the transfer is done with a form and ID instead. Contact support.
The company that owns the domain no longer exists
Why: Documents are needed that show who may act for the company.
What to do: Contact support. In a liquidation, documents proving the liquidator are needed, and for a dissolved company a certificate from Bolagsverket.
The owner has passed away
Why: The estate needs to show who may act for it.
What to do: Contact support. A will or a family record from Skatteverket is needed.
Good to know
- A transfer costs SEK 99 excluding VAT per domain.
- The owner is whoever legally owns the domain. The person who pays for and manages the domain can be someone else.
- For a .dk domain, you change the owner yourself at Punktum, not through Inleed.
