Change the root password for your VPS
Root is the server’s administrator account. Change its password in the client area if you’ve forgotten it or want a new one.
Faster: let an AI app do itMCP
If you’ve connected Inleed to an AI app, just write what you want done, for example:
Change the root password on my VPS
The app prepares the change. You approve it in the client area.
How to connect an AI app Works with Claude, ChatGPT and Codex
Before you start
- The server runs Linux. The change doesn’t work on Windows servers.
- The server restarts when the password is changed, so it is down for a short while.
How to change it
- 1
Log in to the client area and click Manage next to your VPS.
Your VPS’s page opens.
- 2
Click Forgot the password? and follow the steps.
How to know it worked
Done
The server has a new root password.
Good to know
- If you’re logged in to the server, you can also change the password with the
passwdcommand. - SSH to a VPS uses port 22, unless you’ve changed it yourself.
