Change the PTR record (reverse DNS) for your IP

The PTR record, or reverse DNS (rDNS), is the name your IP address answers with. You usually change it when the server is going to send email.

About 2 minutes Applies to the IPv4 address of a VPS, extra IPv4 address Updated 6 Nov 2026

Before you start

  • The name needs an A record that points to the same IP address. Otherwise many mail servers won’t accept it. Add a DNS record

Log in to the client area and click Network.

Your IP addresses are listed, with the PTR record under rDNS.
