Upgrade your VPS
If your server needs more power, switch to a bigger plan in the client area. You order more disk from support.
Before you start
- The server is shut down while it is upgraded, so websites and services on it are down for a while.
How to upgrade
More CPU and RAM
- 1
Log in to the client area, open the upgrades page and click Show upgrades next to your VPS.
- 2
Choose the new plan and follow the steps.
More disk
- 1
Email support and say how much more disk you need.
The disk is extended in steps of 100 GB for a monthly fee.
- 2
Wait while the server restarts.
It’s down for about 15 minutes.
- 3
Extend the partition in the operating system, or with a gparted ISO.
Without Server maintenance, you do this yourself.
How to know it worked
Done
The server has more resources.
If something doesn’t work
I can’t see the new disk space
Why: The disk is bigger, but the partition in the operating system hasn’t been extended.
What to do: Extend the partition in the operating system or with a gparted ISO.
Good to know
- A VPS can’t be downgraded, and an extended disk can’t be shrunk again. Can I downgrade my VPS?
