Update WordPress, themes and plugins

Updates keep your website secure. You update WordPress, plugins and themes from the same page in the dashboard.

Before you start

How to update

  1. 1

    Log in to WordPress and click Updates.

    If there is a new version of WordPress, click Update to version ….

  3. 3

    Tick Select All under Plugins.

  4. 4

    Click Update Plugins.

  5. 5

    Tick Select All under Themes.

  6. 6

    Click Update Themes.

  7. 7

    Click Update Translations if the button is there.

How to know it worked

Done

The Updates page shows that everything is up to date.

If something doesn’t work

The website shows a critical error after the update

What to do: Follow the troubleshooting for critical errors.

WordPress shows a critical error or a blank page
A plugin needs a newer PHP version

What to do: Switch to a newer PHP version.

Change the PHP version for your website
