Point your domain’s email to Inleed
If your domain’s DNS is with another provider, you can still have your email at Inleed. You change the MX record and add SPF and DKIM where the DNS is.

Before you start
- The email accounts are created at Inleed. Create an email account
- All email to the domain then comes to Inleed. A domain receives email at one provider, so the addresses can’t be split up.
How to point your email
- 1
Log in to the client area and click Manage next to your hosting.
Your hosting’s page opens.
- 2
Find your hosting’s server name under Hosting Specifics.
It’s in the webmail address, for example
prime2.inleed.net. - 3
Change the MX record at your DNS provider so that it points to the server name.
Don’t use
mx.inleed.netormail.inleed.com. The latter is only the server for email apps and webmail. - 4
Set the priority to this value and remove the old MX records.
- 5
Add this value to the domain’s SPF record.
If the domain already has an SPF record, add to that one. Don’t create a new one.
- 6
Add the DKIM key from DirectAdmin as a TXT record for
x._domainkey.More about the records: DNS records for Inleed email.
How to know it worked
Done
New email to the domain arrives at Inleed.
Waiting time
How long it takes depends on how long the old MX record may be cached (TTL). Meanwhile email can arrive both at the old provider and at Inleed, so check both.
Good to know
- If the DNS is already at Inleed, the records are handled automatically. Then only check that Use this server to handle my e-mails is ticked in DirectAdmin.
- Old email doesn’t come along on its own. Move your email from another provider
- You’ll find the MX record in DirectAdmin under E-mail Manager › MX Records, and
mailunder DNS Management. If you change MX there, the name must end with a dot.
