How to know it worked
Done
You’re logged in to your hosting.
If something doesn’t work
The connection is refused or closes at once
Why: The wrong port, or your IP address has been blocked after failed logins.
What to do: Use port 2020. If it works over mobile data but not from your usual connection, whitelist your IP address.
Whitelist your IP address in the firewallThe password doesn’t work
Why: It’s the DirectAdmin password that applies, not the client area’s.
What to do: Change it under the DirectAdmin tab on your hosting’s page in the client area.
Good to know
- SFTP, for example in FileZilla, uses the same server, port and login.
- On a VPS, port 22 applies instead.
