Create a database and a database user

WordPress and many web apps need a database. You create it and a database user in DirectAdmin.

How to create the database

Log in to DirectAdmin, open Databases under Account Manager and click Create.

Enter a name for the database.
The name always starts with your username and an underscore.

Click Advanced mode if you want to choose the username and password yourself.

Click Create.

Save the database name, the username and the password shown.
The password is only shown this once.

The database and a database user are under Databases.

In the website’s settings, for example wp-config.php, the database server is localhost.
If you’ve lost the password, change it under Databases › Manage Users. Then update the website’s settings.
