My cron job isn’t running
A scheduled script in DirectAdmin does nothing or has stopped running. Usually the command or the path is wrong.
Common causes
1The command works in the terminal but not as cron
Check
Does the command contain the full path to the script? Cron doesn’t know your folder.
What to do
Enter the full path, for example /home/username/domains/yourdomain.com/public_html/script.php.
Run PHP scripts with php and the full path, or with curl or wget against an address.
2It’s WordPress’s own scheduling (wp-cron)
Check
Does the task only run when someone visits the website? That’s how wp-cron works.
What to do
Add a cron job that calls wp-cron.php.
3You don’t get an email about what happened
Check
Is your email address at the top under Cron Jobs?
What to do
Enter your email address there, and the output from the job is emailed to you.
Good to know
- You create cron jobs under Advanced Features › Cron Jobs in DirectAdmin, with Create Cron Job.
- Inleed’s support helps with the server, not with the script itself.
